Day 5

January 16, 2014

Wow, I really don't feel like posting today but I shall for my commitment I made....

So today was the first day of classes which I thought I had prepared for. Unfortunately, I was over-stressed about it that I actually missed the first hour of my 4 hour lecture class. I was up early and all ready except I thought my class was at 1pm instead of the 9am one so I was going to do some reading before class. But I got a call from the BU academic office telling me that I had class at that moment. Good thing I live right next to the class building because I sprinted my butt there.

BTW my British Tourism class professor looks like Hugh Grant and has an awesome sense of humor and he is great and super chill so my lateness was excused (at least for today) hehe.

Some things I learned in class:

  • Cab drivers have to take 2 years of courses/training to be legitimized and registered. They must memorize 400 different routes. The cab driver profession is highly regarded and well payed!!
  • In England, if a king and queen has a daughter, when they pass away, that princess becomes the Queen. If she gets married, her husband does not become king. However, if a prince becomes the King, his wife will be named Queen.
  • In England, the heir to the throne is vertical not horizontal
  • About 8% of the population in England practice religion and of those, a majority are Muslim

After class I came back to my room to eat and chill. Then my friends and I went to High Street to look for a dress to wear to tonight's "start of the semester party." The party was at the Foundation Bar/Club in Covent Garden which was a pretty cool spot. The food was amazing and this one drink I ordered (I'm not too sure what it's called) was yummy. Dancing with my friends was the best part tho - until the place got way too crowded, after which some of us decided to just come back to the dorm.

Didn't take too many pictures today but I'll post this one cause I'm so thankful for these two girls.

(where'd your eyes go, Mythri?)

Today's thoughts:

  • I really want ice cream
  • Every time I leave the US to visit another country, I realize how spoiled I am
  • $ runs out so quickly here... where does it all go?!?
  • White girls are more straight up than asian girls - lesbireal
  • One of the worst things that can happen to me: being all spontaneous and trying new foods that actually end up tasting bad/weird/not worth the cost/just bad
  • I've walked more in these past 5 days than I have all of last semester at BU........... o
  • I am really indecisive
  • My bed is ridiculously uncomfortable and is probably giving me these back pains
  • I wonder if British people can tell a fake british accent
'Tis all.
Until next time, mates

xx
